Israeli Settlers Attack Palestinian Village in West Bank

Approximately 40 masked and armed Israeli settlers launched an unprovoked attack on the Palestinian village of Al-Tuba in the Masafer Yatta region of the West Bank on August 5, 2026. The attackers set fire to homes, destroyed livestock feed and solar panels, and assaulted residents. Among the victims were two children and a pregnant woman who suffered fractures and a severe head wound.

Benjamin Netanyahu characterized settler violence as a "grave phenomenon caused by a small handful who do huge damage to the State of Israel in the world." The Israeli military stated that police opened an investigation into the Al-Tuba attack, though no arrests were confirmed as suspects fled before troops arrived.

The incident follows a reported 63 percent surge in nationalistic crime during the first half of 2026. Other recent violence includes a siege of two Palestinian families in Qusra and the burning of a home in at-Tuwani. While the Israeli government describes these as isolated acts, Amnesty International and UN experts have accused the state of enabling a campaign of ethnic cleansing to displace Palestinians.
