Atiku Abubakar Condemns Tinubu's Campaign Council Inauguration
Atiku Abubakar criticized President Bola Tinubu for using the Presidential Villa to inaugurate a large campaign council amid rising poverty in Nigeria.
Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar criticized President Bola Tinubu for inaugurating a revised presidential campaign council within the Presidential Villa. Abubakar, representing the African Democratic Congress, described the extensive membership list as a "crowded confession of Tinubu’s fear" and argued that the size of the council demonstrates a pattern of political excess.
Abubakar condemned the use of the public office for a political event, calling it a "gross breach of public trust" and a "troubling abuse of public office." He asserted that the administration has failed to address insecurity and economic hardship, noting that the 2026 Global Multidimensional Poverty Index showed an increase of 17.9 million people living in poverty.
Pointing to the record of the last three and a half years, Abubakar stated that voters have sufficient reason to reject the president's re-election in the upcoming January 16 ballot.
