Ron DeSantis Warns Iran War Hurts Republican Party
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis claims the conflict with Iran has increased gas prices and damaged the Republican Party's credibility with working-class voters.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis stated that the war with Iran has backfired on the Republican Party, specifically during the election season. In an interview with Stephen A. Smith on SiriusXM, DeSantis argued that the conflict directly caused higher gas prices, which averaged $4.11 per gallon on Election Day.
DeSantis warned that failing to admit these economic struggles to voters constitutes "gaslighting" and could damage the party's credibility. He contrasted the current situation with the 2024 campaign promises made by Donald Trump to avoid new wars and lower costs for Americans.
Looking forward, DeSantis asserted that if the war continues throughout the presidency, it will hinder the president's ability to govern. He noted that a prolonged conflict would be "devastating" to the administration's effectiveness and create significant difficulties for Republicans in the next election cycle.
