She stated that it is important for leaders to share these processes to normalize them for working women across the country.

While Ocasio-Cortez did not explicitly state her plans to have children, she noted the decision comes as she considers future political moves for 2028. These possibilities include potential runs for the U.S. presidency or the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Chuck Schumer.
