Six Dead After Settler Attacks in West Bank Village

A violent confrontation in the village of Tell, southwest of Nablus, left two Israelis and four Palestinians from the Ramadan family dead. The clash began when armed Israeli settlers attempted to attack Palestinian homes, leading to a struggle in which a Palestinian man seized an Israeli weapon and opened fire.

Following the deaths, Israeli forces sealed the village, detained more than 70 residents, and conducted home raids. The violence spread to surrounding communities, where settlers attacked vehicles and set mosques on fire. These events occur within a broader escalation in the West Bank, where over 1,180 Palestinians have been killed since October 2023.

Critics accuse the government of Benjamin Netanyahu of implementing a deliberate policy of annexation through illegal settlement expansion and the transfer of administrative powers to civilian institutions. This policy is supported by ministers Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir, who are accused of providing political protection to settler movements. Tensions remain high as Israel approaches a general election on October 27, following previous provocations at the Al-Aqsa Mosque on July 23.
