Jimmy Patronis Declares Jelly Roll Unwelcome in Florida Panhandle
Representative Jimmy Patronis declared musician Jelly Roll unwelcome in the Florida Panhandle after the singer mocked President Donald Trump on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
U.S. Representative Jimmy Patronis declared that musician Jelly Roll is 100 percent not welcome in the Florida Panhandle following the singer's appearance as a guest host on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on August 27. During the broadcast, Jelly Roll mocked President Donald Trump's weight and physical fitness, including a parody weight-loss commercial where he compared his own weight loss to losing an entire Donald Trump.
Patronis, a Trump ally endorsed by the president in a 2025 special election, criticized the singer on X, calling him a token country star for California liberals. The dispute evolved into a local political conflict when Democratic candidate Gay Valimont, Patronis' opponent for Florida's 1st Congressional District, issued a public invitation for Jelly Roll to visit the region and experience its hospitality.
Responding to the backlash during subsequent monologues, Jelly Roll described himself as being pretty down the middle politically, noting that while he leans left on some issues, he is a Christian, farmer, and bow hunter. He defended his right to joke about the president as a reflection of American freedom of speech and clarified that shaking the president's hand in November 2024 was a gesture of respect for the office and military veterans rather than a political endorsement.
