Florida Renames Palm Beach Airport for President Donald Trump

Florida officials renamed Palm Beach International Airport to President Donald J. Trump International Airport and changed its IATA code from PBI to DJT.

Palm Beach International Airport in West Palm Beach, Florida, officially became President Donald J. Trump International Airport on August 18, 2026. The rebranding includes a rare modification of the airport's three-letter IATA code from PBI to DJT, which is now visible to the public on airline tickets, luggage tags, and booking sites. The airport is also transitioning its official website to flydjt.org.

Ron DeSantis, the Governor of Florida, signed the renaming into state law in March following a prompt from the Florida Legislature. He defended the decision, stating it was appropriate because Donald J. Trump is the first sitting president from Florida. The process continued in May when the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners voted 4-3 to approve a naming rights and licensing agreement, which allows the Trump family business to control the selection of vendors for branded merchandise.

The state budget allocated $2.75 million for the rebranding effort. While the Federal Aviation Administration updated navigational charts and databases to ensure flight operations remained unaffected, the transition has caused some confusion for travelers. The move has faced opposition through online petitions and at least two lawsuits, with critics citing political partisanship and the costs associated with updating airport signage.
