Richard Branson Links Venezuelan Investment to Rule of Law
Richard Branson stated that Venezuela must hold elections and establish legal certainty to attract increased foreign investment.
Virgin Group owner Richard Branson told entrepreneurs and investment fund representatives in Venezuela that the country will attract more foreign investment only after it holds elections and establishes the rule of law. He emphasized that global investors currently require transparency, a proper judicial process, and legal certainty to ensure their capital is secure.
While the Venezuelan parliament has approved legal reforms to encourage investment, global investors remain hesitant, especially in sectors outside of energy. This caution persists despite assurances from Interim President Delcy Rodriguez and U.S. President Donald Trump that elections will occur, though neither leader has provided a specific timeline.
Rodriguez assumed power in January following a United States operation that resulted in the capture of President Nicolas Maduro.
