Mike Lindell Runs for Minnesota Governor While Registered in Texas

MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell is running for governor of Minnesota despite records showing he is currently registered to vote in Texas.

MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell is running for governor of Minnesota after receiving an endorsement from Donald Trump. Voter records reviewed by the Minnesota Star Tribune and confirmed by the Minnesota Secretary of State show that Lindell is not registered to vote in Minnesota and instead maintains an active registration in Texas, where he lived for one year in 2024.

Lindell acknowledged the registration discrepancy, stating he returned to Minnesota in 2025 to pursue the governorship. While his lack of registration prevents him from casting a ballot for himself in the August 11 Republican primary unless he registers locally, state law permits him to remain a candidate as long as he is eligible to vote. Lindell intends to utilize Minnesota's same-day registration to vote in the primary and refuses to cast a ballot in Texas.

Despite these issues, Lindell leads the Republican primary field with 27 percent support. However, he trails Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar by 17 points in hypothetical general election polling. The Republican Party of Minnesota has expressed skepticism regarding his electability, a move Lindell characterized as "disgusting." He argues the state requires a business leader to address the cost of living and what he describes as "rampant fraud."
