BJP Accuses Rahul Gandhi of Disrupting Parliament Over Fugitives

BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia accused Rahul Gandhi of stalling Parliament to avoid scrutiny of the Congress party's record on fugitive repatriation.

Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia accused Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi of disrupting Parliament to avoid scrutiny of the Indian National Congress's record on fugitives. During a press conference on August 5, 2026, Bhatia alleged that Gandhi is neglecting his duties and avoiding parliamentary debate due to a lack of political will and "Modi-phobia."

Bhatia highlighted the BJP-led government's record, stating that it brought back 274 fugitives from 36 countries between 2019 and 2026. He noted that the government recovered approximately Rs 18,762 crore from these individuals.

During the same event, Bhatia marked the seventh anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370. He praised Union Home Minister Amit Shah for the decision to revoke the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
