Pew Research Survey Shows Declining Global Support for Israel

Pew Research Center reports a 67% median unfavorable view of Israel across 36 countries, with widespread lack of confidence in Benjamin Netanyahu.

The Pew Research Center released a global attitudes survey on Thursday indicating a sharp decline in international support for Israel and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Based on data from 44,657 people across 36 countries surveyed between February 8 and May 13, the report found a median unfavorable view of Israel at 67%, while only 25% held a favorable view.

Unfavorable opinions rose in 13 of 24 countries surveyed in both 2025 and 2026. The most significant increases in negative sentiment occurred in Germany, Italy, South Korea, Argentina, and Nigeria. In the United States, the data revealed a deep ideological split, with 83% of liberals viewing Israel unfavorably compared to 37% of conservatives.

Global confidence in Benjamin Netanyahu's leadership also plummeted. Majorities in most surveyed countries expressed a lack of confidence in his judgment regarding world affairs. This trend was particularly pronounced in North America and several European nations, where over half of adults reported no confidence in the prime minister at all.
