Various public figures and citizens used letters to the editor to criticize government policies and personnel attrition across the United States and South Africa.

In the United States, retired fire chief Bill Wilkins criticized the Defiance Fire and Rescue Division in Ohio, citing high attrition rates that saw 11 personnel leave since June 2024, including Captain Craig Vogel.

In South Africa, political and economic critiques targeted the national government and opposition. Ike Boss criticized the Democratic Alliance for its handling of a Reserve Bank probe into MP Mark Burke and the firm Kastelo, arguing that technical legal compliance is insufficient. Simultaneously, Terence Corrigan of the Institute of Race Relations challenged the economic ambitions of President Cyril Ramaphosa, asserting that current government policies limit the nation's economic potential despite Ramaphosa's claim that a 3% growth rate should not be the summit of the nation's ambition.
