Trump Approval Drops to 39% Ahead of Midterm Elections

President Donald Trump's approval rating fell to 39% as voters face rising fuel costs and a competitive 2026 midterm election cycle.

Donald Trump saw his job approval rating drop to 39%, down from 44% at the start of his second term, according to a joint poll by NPR, PBS, and Marist. The decline comes as the United States approaches Election Day in 15 days.

Republicans currently maintain a 218-214 lead in the House of Representatives, while Democrats need four net seats to regain control of the Senate. The Cook Political Report has identified 46 House seats as competitive in the current cycle. Campaign spending has reached $10 billion in advertising costs.

Economic pressures are weighing on voters, specifically regarding fuel costs. The average price of regular gas rose from $2.98 to $4.30 per gallon over the last eight months. Additionally, 58% of voters believe the construction of data centers by technology companies will negatively impact the country.
