Donald Trump Insults Norway After Nobel Peace Prize Snub
President Donald Trump criticized Norway and suggested Norwegian immigrants are unwelcome after the Nobel Committee awarded the 2026 Peace Prize to Navanethem Pillay.
Donald Trump criticized Norway during a political rally in Port Huron, Michigan, on October 25, 2026, after the Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize to South African jurist Navanethem Pillay. Trump described Pillay as a "mystery person" and a "woman that nobody ever heard of," while claiming his own record of settling eight wars merited the award.
During the event, Trump called Norway a "shit house country" and stated that he did not want anyone from the nation entering the United States. He previously characterized the failure to receive the prize as an "indelible stain" on Norway. Despite these comments, there is no indication that the administration is implementing a new official immigration policy targeting Norwegians.
Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre has previously informed Trump that the Nobel Peace Prize is determined by an independent committee rather than the Norwegian government.
