Obafemi Hamzat Claims Bola Tinubu Has Stronger 2027 Re-election Prospects

Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat stated that President Bola Tinubu's prospects for re-election in 2027 are significantly stronger than they were during the 2023 presidential election. Speaking on TVC News’ Journalists’ Hangout, Hamzat argued that the religious and regional sensitivities that hindered Tinubu in 2023—specifically his status as a Muslim candidate from Southern Nigeria—have diminished.

Hamzat asserted that the president's governance and appointments have demonstrated a blindness to ethnicity and religion, focusing instead on credibility and intelligence. He noted that unlike in 2023, Tinubu will enter the next election with a tangible administrative record that he can defend to the electorate.

To support his claims of inclusive national governance, Hamzat cited the religious cooperation in Lagos and the work of the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council as models for the president's current approach.
