South Africa Welcomes Back Afrikaners After U.S. Visa Denials

The South African government announced it is ready to welcome back hundreds of Afrikaner citizens whose applications for refugee status in the United States were rejected. These individuals had sold their assets and resigned from their jobs to join a minority group resettlement program established by Donald Trump, who had previously prioritized Afrikaner resettlement in May citing race-based discrimination and the killing of white farmers.

Despite the initial program, the U.S. government subsequently issued ineligibility letters to the applicants without explanation or a chance for appeal, determining that claims of a white genocide in South Africa were false. The South African government describes these allegations as discredited and lacking evidence.

Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni stated following a cabinet meeting on July 30 that all South Africans, regardless of their political views, can return home without fear of political persecution or suppression. She urged citizens to reject racial mobilization and commit to building a united, non-racial society through a collective effort involving government, business, and civil society. Meanwhile, newly appointed South African Ambassador to Washington Roelf Meyer has vowed to reset diplomatic relations and improve trade ties between the two nations.
