Zelenskiy Vows Accountability After Russian Strike Kills 10 in Vyshneve
Volodymyr Zelenskiy ordered accountability for officials who illegally stored weapons in a residential area, where a Russian strike killed 10 people.
President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced that officials at the state weapons producer Ukroboronprom will be held accountable after a Russian strike on a weapons warehouse in Vyshneve, near Kyiv, killed 10 people and damaged hundreds of homes. An investigation by the Security Service of Ukraine determined that officials authorized the facility's use in a residential area, which Zelenskiy called a "direct violation of both the law and a decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's staff."
The incident coincided with a broader Russian offensive on July 12, involving over 120 drones and 12 missiles targeting Kyiv, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, and Odesa, which killed at least eight people. Russia reported targeting military-industrial and seaport infrastructure, while Ukrainian officials characterized the attacks as terrorism. In Sumy, Russian troops reportedly took control of Bachivsk.
Ukraine responded by striking 28 Russian vessels in the Sea of Azov, including 21 fuel tankers. These maritime operations, combined with strikes on oil refineries, triggered a fuel crisis in Russia's Novosibirsk region, where authorities urged residents to work remotely. Zelenskiy emphasized that enterprise managers must ensure such tragedies are not repeated and called for a new level of cooperation from partners to fulfill arms supply agreements.
