Israeli Strikes Kill Dozens as Trump Announces Gaza Roadmap

Israeli military strikes across the Gaza Strip from August 1 to August 3, 2026, killed at least 61 Palestinians, including children, and destroyed critical medical supplies at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital. The attacks targeted residential buildings, displacement tents, and vehicles in Gaza City, Jabalia, Deir al-Balah, and Khan Younis. The Israel Defense Forces reported killing Hamas Nukhba force commanders and other militants, while the Gaza Health Ministry warned that the enclave's medical system is nearing collapse.

These escalations occurred as Donald Trump announced a 15-point ceasefire roadmap he described as a "monumental step" toward peace. The plan requires Palestinian factions to decommission their weapons and hand over civilian governance. While the U.S.-led Board of Peace reported that Hamas accepted the roadmap, the Israeli government has not officially endorsed it. Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen stated that Hamas must be dismantled before military operations cease, denying any agreement requiring Israel to halt attacks during negotiations.

Hamas condemned the strikes as a deliberate escalation and called for international action to protect civilians from genocide and displacement. Senior Hamas officials accused the Israeli government of seeking to impose facts on the ground by force to undermine the political track. Lead envoy Nickolay Mladenov continues to work with mediators from the United States, Egypt, Türkiye, and Qatar to de-escalate the situation and ensure adherence to the Comprehensive Plan and the Sharm El-Sheikh deal.
