Michele Tafoya Wins Minnesota Republican Senate Primary

Michele Tafoya, a former NFL sideline reporter, won the Republican primary on Tuesday to become the GOP candidate for Minnesota's open U.S. Senate seat. Tafoya secured 52% of the vote, defeating Adam Schwarze, who received 24%, and former NBA player Royce White, who received 11%.

Tafoya will face Democratic Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan in the November general election. The contest follows the retirement of Senator Tina Smith, which created the open seat. President Donald Trump did not endorse a candidate in the primary.

Following her victory, Tafoya stated that Minnesota is ready for change and has suffered from a "crisis of leadership" caused by career politicians.
