Trump Approval Ratings Drop Among American Women and Mothers

President Donald Trump sees a decline in national approval and a surge in disapproval among mothers due to economic, healthcare, and gender-specific policies.

National approval ratings for Donald Trump have fallen to approximately 37%, with a notable decline in support among women and mothers. A July 2026 Echelon Insights poll found that 62 percent of mothers with children under 18 disapprove of the president's job performance, marking a six percentage-point increase from the previous year. Mothers specifically cited the rising cost of living linked to tariffs, a war with Iran, and the expiration of student loan payment freezes as primary concerns.

Disapproval is further fueled by administration policies affecting healthcare and women's rights. These include reductions in Medicaid enrollment, a lack of support for Affordable Care Act premium tax credits, and a shift by the Department of Health and Human Services to prioritize natural family planning over medical birth control. Additionally, the Department of Defense terminated programs intended to expand women's roles in the military. Critics also point to the pending SAVE Act, which would require voter registration names to match birth certificates, as a measure that could disenfranchise married women.

Internal supporters have also expressed frustration. Vani Hari and the Make America Healthy Again movement criticized the administration for failing to curb processed foods and chemical ingredients. Meanwhile, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine labeled a proposed rule on infertility treatment as insufficient. White House Spokesperson Davis Ingle defended the record, citing job growth and cooling inflation as evidence of the president's success.
