President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Begins Three-Week European Vacation

Bola Ahmed Tinubu departed Abuja on Sunday, August 30, 2026, for a three-week working vacation in Europe. According to a statement from the Presidency, the president's first destination is London, United Kingdom. This trip is part of his annual leave.

Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria to join the campaign for the January 2027 general elections. The Independent National Electoral Commission opened the campaign period on August 19, and political activities have intensified across the country.

Seeking another term in office under the All Progressives Congress, Tinubu faces opposition from candidates including Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress, as well as Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Democratic Congress.
