Security Concerns Boost Netanyahu's Coalition in Israeli Election Polls
Benjamin Netanyahu's coalition gained support in recent polling as security threats and diplomatic meetings shift voter focus ahead of the October 27 election.
Security concerns have returned as the central issue in Israel's election campaign four weeks before the October 27 vote. Recent events, including a meeting between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed and an alleged hijacking attempt of a FlyDubai passenger plane on September 30, have shifted voter focus away from internal disputes over funding and ultra-Orthodox military service.
A Maariv poll published October 2 indicates this shift is benefiting Netanyahu's coalition, which gained two seats to reach 51. The Zionist opposition bloc dropped to 53 seats in the same period.
Within the parties, Netanyahu's Likud party rose to 19 seats. Conversely, the Yashar party led by Gadi Eisenkot decreased to 21 seats.
