Republicans Retreat from House Races as Trump Faces Press Ban Block

Republicans are scaling back spending in key House races while Judge Timothy Kelly blocked President Donald Trump from banning specific news outlets from the White House.

The Congressional Leadership Fund has adopted a defensive posture in the final three weeks of the midterm campaigns, canceling spending in four battleground House races while increasing investment in 16 others. In contrast, Democrats are aggressively funding long-shot candidates, with an additional $6.7 million allocated to Senate races in Michigan and Maine. Former Vice President Kamala Harris has expanded her campaign tour to New Hampshire, Wisconsin, and Mississippi to support Democratic nominees.

In the judiciary, U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly extended an order blocking the Trump administration from banning reporters from CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from the White House. The legal dispute coincides with the first press conference of White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia, who read from a prepared text.

President Donald Trump also claimed that massive oil, gas, and mineral exploration is set to begin in Greenland, despite the territory's self-governing status under Denmark. Meanwhile, the U.S. Labor Department reported that September inflation rose to 3.7%, citing rising costs for gasoline and AI-related services.
