Bahraini Foreign Minister Holds High-Level Talks With Saudi Arabia and India

Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani met with Saudi and Indian officials to discuss regional security, bilateral cooperation, and maritime navigation.

Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, the Foreign Minister of Bahrain, conducted a series of diplomatic meetings with Saudi Arabian and Indian officials between July 5 and July 6, 2026. In Riyadh on July 5, Al Zayani met with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud to discuss strengthening historical ties and accelerating joint projects under the Bahraini-Saudi Joint Co-ordination Council. The two ministers also addressed regional stability, the freedom of maritime navigation, and the status of negotiations between the United States and Iran.

Following these talks, Al Zayani met with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar in Manama on July 6. The officials discussed deepening bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on regional developments. Jaishankar acknowledged Bahrain's role in supporting the approximately 315,000 Indian nationals living in the country.

Jaishankar's visit to Bahrain is part of a broader diplomatic tour of the Gulf from July 5 to July 10, which includes stops in Qatar, Kuwait, and Oman. Prior to arriving in Manama, Jaishankar met with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani in Doha to explore strategic partnerships concerning trade, security, and energy. Following the Gulf leg of his trip, Jaishankar is scheduled to visit the United States and Belgium.
