APC Launches Arewa for Asiwaju to Secure Northern Votes
All Progressives Congress leaders and northern governors pledged full support for President Bola Tinubu's 2027 re-election bid during the launch of the Arewa for Asiwaju secretariat.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) launched the Arewa for Asiwaju (A4A) national secretariat in Abuja to mobilize support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's 2027 re-election bid. National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda predicted that President Tinubu will secure over 70 percent of the votes in Northern Nigeria, citing the administration's delivery of infrastructure projects such as the Trans-Saharan Super Highway and the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline.
Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, speaking for northern state governors, pledged 100 percent support for the presidency. Yusuf argued that the North must honor a 1999 mutual agreement regarding power-sharing between northern and southern leaders, noting that the region should support the current southern presidency because former President Muhammadu Buhari served two consecutive terms with southern backing.
Vice President Kashim Shettima officially commissioned the secretariat, while A4A Director-General Muhammad Badaru Abubakar stated the campaign will mobilize support at ward, local government, and state levels. Abubakar highlighted security improvements and the Nigerian Education Loan Fund as key justifications for a second term. Ibrahim Shekarau, Chairman of the A4A Board of Trustees, affirmed the organization's commitment to ensuring the Tinubu-Shettima ticket emerges victorious in the January 16 election.
