Princess Anne Visits South Korea to Strengthen Strategic Ties
Princess Anne conducted a three-day visit to South Korea to commemorate Korean War anniversaries and review maritime, defense, and technology collaborations.
Princess Anne of the United Kingdom and her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, conducted a three-day official tour of South Korea starting July 14, 2026. The visit commemorated the 75th anniversary of the Battles of Imjin River and Gapyeong from the Korean War, featuring wreath-laying ceremonies and a visit to the United Nations Memorial Cemetery in Busan to honor British and Commonwealth service members.
Focusing on industrial and academic collaboration, the Princess Royal visited the HD Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard in Ulsan on July 15. She toured shipbuilding and engine facilities to review partnerships with British firms Rolls-Royce and Beaufort, which provide gas turbines and submarine survival equipment for the Republic of Korea Navy. In Seoul, she visited the Jung Woonoh IT & General Education Center at Korea University, where she observed demonstrations of robotics and smart mobility.
The tour concluded with an audience with President Lee Jae Myung at the Blue House to discuss security, trade, and investment. Other engagements included a meeting with the K-Pop group NMIXX and an event at Busan Port to reaffirm maritime cooperation between the two nations.
