Boeing Secures Massive Aircraft Orders From Turkey and Bangladesh

President Donald Trump announced on September 24 that Türkiye and Bangladesh have purchased 111 Boeing aircraft, with options for 50 more, in deals worth tens of billions of dollars. Trump stated the sales would support tens of thousands of American manufacturing jobs. The agreements were facilitated by the United States Department of Commerce and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick.

Turkish Airlines finalized an order for up to 150 737 MAX airplanes on September 23 in the presence of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The deal includes 100 737-8 aircraft and options for 50 additional jets, marking the airline's largest single-aisle order from Boeing. Biman Bangladesh Airlines also expanded its fleet renewal plan, ordering 11 additional aircraft—five 787-10 Dreamliners and six 737-8 MAX jets—bringing its total planned orders to 25. This supplemental agreement was signed during the United Nations General Assembly to strengthen trade ties between Dhaka and the United States.

Additionally, Lufthansa Group exercised purchase options for 20 Boeing 737 MAX 10 aircraft on September 22. Valued at approximately $3.4 billion, this order increases the group's total commitment to the MAX family to 60 aircraft. Lufthansa expects the MAX 10 to reduce fuel consumption by 30% and unit costs by 20% as they replace older Airbus A320 family aircraft starting in the early 2030s.
