Trump Threatens Military Action as Iran Nuclear Talks Stall

President Donald Trump warned Iran he will either reach a nuclear agreement or destroy critical infrastructure following the collapse of indirect diplomatic talks.

President Donald Trump issued an ultimatum to Iran on July 6, 2026, stating the United States will either reach a comprehensive nuclear peace agreement or "finish the job" through further military action. Speaking from the White House, Trump claimed the U.S. has already crushed Iran's military capabilities and established an effective naval blockade. He warned that Washington could destroy Iranian bridges and energy infrastructure within a single hour if a deal is not reached to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

These threats follow the collapse of indirect talks in Doha, Qatar, and occur during a 60-day ceasefire that began after U.S. and Israeli strikes on February 28. Trump emphasized that he is not seeking regime change and prefers a negotiated settlement to avoid harming 91 million Iranians, though he noted the recent funeral of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei provided a military opportunity to eliminate top leaders.

Iran responded with defiance. Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Mohammad Baqer Zolqadr dismissed the warnings as "delusional," stating that Iranians are unfamiliar with the language of threats. The Iranian embassy in Armenia further condemned the U.S., asserting that the nation lacks "civilisation, history, nor honour."

In Tehran, the Iranian government held a highly produced funeral for Ayatollah Khamenei featuring anti-American propaganda and the public stoning of Trump's image. The event was attended by Western influencers, including Jackson Hinkle. Meanwhile, Trump delivered speeches at Mount Rushmore framing communism as a threat to American heritage while utilizing National Security Presidential Memorandum 7 to target domestic political dissent.
