Trump Celebrates Milestone for Four Advanced Nuclear Reactor Firms

President Donald Trump hosted four nuclear energy companies at the White House after they met a deadline to achieve criticality in advanced small reactors.

President Donald Trump hosted representatives from four private nuclear firms at the White House on Friday to celebrate the achievement of criticality in new advanced small nuclear reactors. The companies—Antares Nuclear, Deployable Energy, Valar Atomics, and Aalo Atomics—all met a deadline of July 4, adhering to an ambitious target established by Trump through executive orders issued in May 2025.

The administration is prioritizing the expansion of nuclear power to address the rising energy demands of artificial intelligence and to decrease dependence on foreign uranium sources. As part of this strategy, the Marine Minerals Administration and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission signed an agreement to coordinate the oversight of potential nuclear projects located in federal waters on the Outer Continental Shelf.

Concurrent with the celebration, the United States Department of Energy announced the first projects selected under the Genesis Mission. This initiative aims to use AI to accelerate scientific discovery, including a $60 million investment specifically designed to deliver nuclear facilities more safely and cost-effectively.
