Azerbaijan Strengthens Ties With Türkiye and Pakistan for Victory Day
Azerbaijan hosted diplomatic receptions in Ankara and Islamabad to commemorate Victory Day, securing commitments for deeper economic, military, and reconstruction cooperation.
Azerbaijan marked the anniversary of its 2020 military victory in the Second Karabakh War with high-level diplomatic receptions in Türkiye and Pakistan on November 3. In Ankara, Ibrahim Yumakli, the Turkish Agriculture and Forestry Minister, called for deeper cooperation and highlighted the role of Turkish companies in reconstructing territories Azerbaijan regained. Yumakli described the bilateral relationship as "One nation, two states," noting that the Shusha Declaration elevated the partnership to a formal alliance.
These events in Ankara followed a meeting between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, where the leaders discussed bilateral relations and cooperation within the Organization of Turkic States. Yumakli stated that the victory in Karabakh provides a historic opportunity to establish lasting peace and security across the region.
Simultaneously, in Islamabad, Pakistan reaffirmed its support for Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Pakistan's Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, emphasized the need to transition political understanding into economic cooperation. This partnership now spans trade, energy, defense, and digital transformation, highlighted by the recent inauguration of the Azerbaijan Service Centre in Islamabad. Pakistan also expressed appreciation for Azerbaijan's continued support regarding the Kashmir issue.
