Nyesom Wike Claims Rainbow Coalition Supports President Tinubu
Minister Nyesom Wike announced that Governor Ademola Adeleke has joined a Rainbow Coalition to support President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike announced on August 21, 2026, that Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has joined his political camp to fully support President Bola Tinubu. The declaration followed meetings in Abuja, including Adeleke's visit to the Presidential Villa to present his Certificate of Return after winning the August 15 Osun State governorship election with 511,067 votes.
Wike characterized this alignment as part of an emerging Rainbow Coalition intended to secure the president's victory in the 2027 general elections. He dismissed claims from the African Democratic Congress that the party contributed to Adeleke's victory, asserting that the governor's recent consultations clarify his political allegiance.
During his declarations in Abuja, Wike stated that there is currently no formidable leading opposition party in Nigeria. He explicitly targeted opposition figures Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, declaring his objective to destabilize them and increase their political pressure. Wike claimed that upcoming realignments would make the 2027 election the easiest in history and one that would be concluded before it even begins.
