Lieberman Accuses Eisenkot of Plotting Coalition With Netanyahu
Avigdor Lieberman accused Gadi Eisenkot of undermining the opposition to form a government with Benjamin Netanyahu ahead of the October 27 elections.
Israel Beiteinu chairman Avigdor Lieberman accused Yashar party leader Gadi Eisenkot of attempting to undermine the opposition bloc to eventually form a coalition with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and ultra-Orthodox parties. Lieberman claimed Eisenkot is siphoning votes from parties that support mandatory military enlistment to become the largest party in the Knesset, which would provide the leverage needed to negotiate a government with Netanyahu, Aryeh Deri, and Yitzchak Goldknopf.
Lieberman further criticized Eisenkot's stance on the draft law, arguing that his position preserves the status quo for ultra-Orthodox citizens. In response, Benny Gantz of the Blue and White party defended Eisenkot, asserting that Lieberman's attacks followed Gantz's exposure of a plan to form a minority government with Naftali Bennett and Arab parties.
Gadi Eisenkot urged Israelis to ignore political spin and focus on replacing the leadership of October 7. He stated that Hamas will remain in power as long as Benjamin Netanyahu is in office. The political conflict unfolds as parties prepare for the upcoming elections on October 27.
