Congress MP Accuses BJP of Stealing Haryana Election

Congress MP Satpal Brahmachari alleged on September 26, 2026, that the Bharatiya Janata Party stole the 2024 Haryana Legislative Assembly election through manipulation and electoral irregularities. Speaking in Jind, Brahmachari claimed that voter numbers in the Rai Assembly constituency were artificially inflated, with some areas recording double the actual number of village residents.

Brahmachari demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, asserting that such a resignation would be accepted. He cited previous claims by Rahul Gandhi that the Election Commission of India operates as a cell of the BJP rather than an independent body.

These allegations follow the October 2024 election in which the BJP secured 48 of 90 seats to win a third consecutive term. The Indian National Congress has recently held nationwide protests at state capitals and Election Commission offices to voice grievances over the results.
