Cyril Ramaphosa Defends ANC Strength Ahead of Local Elections
President Cyril Ramaphosa dismissed claims of party decline during a campaign rally in the Eastern Cape ahead of the November 4 local government elections.
President Cyril Ramaphosa dismissed claims that the African National Congress (ANC) is in decline during a Siyanqoba rally at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium in Mdantsane, Eastern Cape, on Sunday. Speaking ahead of the November 4 local government elections, Ramaphosa asserted that the party is gaining momentum and remains a dominant force in South African politics.
Ramaphosa cited high attendance at rallies in Limpopo and KwaZulu-Natal as evidence of continued public support. He urged supporters to vote for local representatives to ensure the ANC maintains its governance of municipalities and defended the party's councillor candidate selection process.
The ANC campaign focused its manifesto on economic growth, job creation, and improved service delivery. During the rally, the party addressed community concerns regarding gender-based violence, the adequacy of social grants, and graduate unemployment.
