Tinubu Commissions New Court Complex and Judges' Quarters in Abuja
President Bola Tinubu commissioned a new Court of Appeal complex and judicial housing in Abuja to strengthen judicial independence and accelerate the delivery of justice.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu commissioned a series of judicial infrastructure projects in Abuja between June 15 and 17, 2026, to mark the third anniversary of his administration. On Monday, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, the president opened the new Court of Appeal Abuja Division building complex in Dakibiyu. The world-class facility expands the division's capacity from two to ten courtrooms, a move intended to reduce case backlogs and correctional center congestion.
On Tuesday, the president commissioned a 10-unit Court of Appeal Judges’ Quarters in the Katampe district. Represented by Attorney General Lateef Fagbemi, Tinubu described the housing estate—which features five-bedroom duplexes—as a strategic investment in the rule of law. He further announced plans to develop the area into a Judiciary Boulevard, earmarking land for judges of the National Industrial Court, the Code of Conduct Bureau, and the Federal High Court.
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike managed the delivery of these projects, which also include the flagging off of official residences for the National Industrial Court of Nigeria. Along with a judicial remuneration increase of over 300 percent, these interventions aim to ensure judicial autonomy by providing secure and fitting environments. President Tinubu and Minister Wike urged state governors to emulate these federal investments in judicial welfare to maintain democratic stability across Nigeria.
