Atiku Abubakar Demands Audit of 10 Billion Naira Ebola Fund
Atiku Abubakar demanded a full audit of 10 billion naira in Ebola preparedness funds following a confirmed case in Abuja.
Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar demanded that the administration of President Bola Tinubu account for 10 billion naira approved in June for Ebola Virus Disease preparedness. The demand follows the Federal Government's confirmation of an Ebola case in Abuja on October 20.
Atiku alleged a breakdown in the government response, noting that a patient who sought care on October 11 was not publicly confirmed until October 20. He stated this delay left 44 close contacts unmonitored and left health workers without adequate protective equipment. He called for a full audit of all disbursements, contracts, and recipients of the emergency funds.
Beyond the health response, Atiku accused the government of potentially weaponizing the crisis to suppress political activities and discourage voter participation ahead of the 2027 general election. He specifically questioned the role of the Minister of Health regarding upcoming emergency announcements.
