Hamas and Arab Parliament Condemn Israeli Ceasefire Violations

Hamas leadership and the Arab Parliament condemned the Cabinet of Israel for repeated violations of a ceasefire agreement that took effect on October 10, 2025. Gaza's Government Media Office reported that Israeli forces have committed 1,450 ceasefire violations since the truce began, resulting in more than 500 deaths and the abduction of 50 people.

Khalil al-Hayya, Hamas' leader in the Gaza Strip, warned that continued violations would have serious consequences following strikes that killed 37 Palestinians in a 24-hour period. Hamas dismissed Israeli claims that the bombings responded to resistance violations, describing such assertions as a pathetic attempt to justify massacres against civilians.

Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi, President of the Arab Parliament, characterized the attacks and destruction of homes as war crimes and crimes against humanity. Al Yamahi called on the United Nations Security Council to compel Israel to implement the ceasefire and provide international protection for Palestinians.

These escalations occur as Israel prepares to reopen the Rafah crossing to Egypt on February 1, 2026. Tensions remain high due to Israel's refusal to allow Palestinians to leave tunnels in Rafah and a reported 43% compliance rate for humanitarian aid deliveries. The international community is meanwhile attempting to transition to the second phase of a 20-point ceasefire plan announced by U.S. President Donald Trump.
