Jigawa ADC Rejects Islamic Scholars' Endorsement of Bola Tinubu

The Jigawa State chapter of the African Democratic Congress rejected a second-term endorsement of President Bola Tinubu issued by more than 500 Islamic scholars and clerics during a gathering in Dutse. In a statement released Tuesday, the party condemned the politicization of religious leaders and urged them to remain independent of political influence.

The party disputed specific claims made in the clerics' communiqué regarding infrastructure and security. The ADC asserted that the Kano-Dutse/Kano-Maradi railway project was approved under former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2021, contradicting government claims that the current administration initiated the project.

Additionally, the ADC challenged assertions that security has improved in the North-West. The party cited ongoing terrorist attacks and kidnappings in Sokoto, Zamfara, and Kaduna, as well as a mass abduction in Niger State. The party further linked the rising cost of living to the administration's decision to remove the petrol subsidy.
