Abhijeet Dipke Denies Protest Bond After Preventive Detention
Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke accused the Indian government of dictatorship and police misconduct following his preventive arrest in Delhi.
The founder of the Cockroach Janta Party, Abhijeet Dipke, accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah of running a dictatorship following his preventive detention in Delhi. Dipke and other party leaders were arrested to prevent a planned rally demanding the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Following his release, Dipke alleged that the Delhi Police harassed him, denied him access to legal counsel, and deliberately notified his parents of his arrest at 3:30 AM to cause emotional distress. A specific dispute emerged regarding Dipke's treatment after his grandmother died on October 10. While Dipke and his mother claim he was denied family contact, the Delhi Police released video footage suggesting he was informed of the death with sensitivity and declined offered travel arrangements to attend the funeral.
Dipke further denied signing a bond to cease protests, contradicting claims from CJP legal affairs head Ratna Singh that the release was conditional on a one-year agreement not to breach peace. Dipke also alleged that officers who mistreated female protesters and beat students have since been promoted by the government.
