Donald Duke Urges Opposition Unity to Challenge Bola Tinubu

Donald Duke called on opposition politicians to form a united front to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

Presidential candidate for the Peoples Redemption Party Donald Duke urged opposition politicians to form a united front ahead of the 2027 general election. In an interview with Symfoni, the former governor of Cross River State warned that fragmented parties are effectively "rigging it against ourselves because of our ego" and must set aside personal ambitions to avoid being defeated.

Duke characterized President Bola Tinubu as a formidable opponent, stating that "Bola Tinubu is not an average politician" and comparing him to a "lion who also has horns." He argued that the advantage of incumbency and the All Progressives Congress's control of government institutions skew the electoral process in favor of the president.

To counter these advantages, Duke asserted that the only way to seriously tackle an incumbent is for opposition forces to come together to create a unified force. He warned that failure to do so would leave the opposition factionalised and unable to overcome the institutional power of the ruling party.
