Jordan Shoots Down Drones Amid U.S.-Iran Military Truce

The Royal Jordanian Air Force intercepted and shot down two drones targeting Jordan on Monday morning, July 27, 2026. The Jordanian Armed Forces reported no casualties or material damage from the incident. Simultaneously, the Israeli military reported intercepting two unmanned aerial vehicles near the Jordanian border that did not enter Israeli territory. No group has claimed responsibility for these specific drone activities.

These incursions follow a period of intense military confrontation between the United States and Iran. During the conflict, the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps Research and Self-Sufficiency Jihad Organization claimed to have launched a crushing attack on the Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan and other U.S. assets in Kuwait, targeting aircraft and personnel.

The regional tension shifted toward a cautious calm on Sunday after President Donald Trump directed the U.S. military to cease new strikes on Iran. Following this order, Iranian military spokesperson Amir Akraminia announced that Iran had halted its own military operations. Despite the operational pause, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei maintained that the U.S. has destroyed the necessary conditions for diplomatic engagement.
