Russia Launches Massive Air Assault Across Ukraine

The Government of the Russian Federation launched its largest coordinated air assault to date on July 30, 2026, deploying more than 70 missiles—including hypersonic Zircon and ballistic variants—and 280 drones. The strikes targeted military airfields, telecommunications hubs, logistics centers, and military-industrial facilities in Kyiv, Lviv, and Kharkiv. Russian forces also attacked cargo ships carrying weapons at the ports of Yuzhny and Odesa. The bombardment caused at least eight civilian deaths and extensive infrastructure damage.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on international allies and NATO to accelerate the delivery of advanced air defense systems and interceptors. He stated that protection against the missile threat is a mission that cannot belong to Ukraine alone. Simultaneously, NATO deployed fighter jets and heightened security measures after reports that a Russian missile entered NATO airspace.

While the air campaign unfolded, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported territorial gains in the Donetsk region, specifically the capture of Svetloye and the near-ouster of Ukrainian forces from Vodyanske.
