Accord Party Splits Over Bola Tinubu 2027 Endorsement

The Accord Party is facing an internal crisis following conflicting claims regarding the endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election. National Chairman Christopher Imumolen announced that the party has decided to withdraw from the presidential race to support Tinubu's re-election bid, citing the administration's performance and the national interest.

Dele Oladeji, the Lagos State Chairman and Secretary of the Forum of Accord Party Chairmen in Southern Nigeria, rejected these claims as false. Oladeji asserted that the National Executive Committee never discussed or approved such an endorsement and maintained that the party will field candidates for all elective positions in 2027, including the presidency.

The dispute has escalated into a challenge of legitimacy. Oladeji alleged that Imumolen's name is absent from the party's current membership register, while Imumolen framed the decision to support the incumbent as a strategic collaboration for the benefit of Nigeria.
