Rotimi Amaechi Blames Tinubu Policies for Mother's Death
Rotimi Amaechi attributed his mother's death to rising healthcare costs driven by President Bola Tinubu's economic policies and the removal of petrol subsidies.
Former Minister of Transportation and African Democratic Congress vice-presidential candidate Rotimi Amaechi attributed the death of his mother to the economic policies of President Bola Tinubu's administration. During an interview on Channels Television's Politics Today, Amaechi stated that his mother was healthy before Tinubu took office, but the subsequent rise in the cost of medicines made it difficult for his family to provide necessary care.
Amaechi argued that these policies are killing Nigerians by making healthcare unaffordable. He linked the crisis to Nigeria's dependence on imported pharmaceuticals and broader economic shifts, including the removal of the petrol subsidy. To support his claims, he cited National Bureau of Statistics data indicating that Nigeria spent 200 billion naira on drug imports in the last quarter.
