Bola Tinubu defended his administration's stringent economic reforms during the opening of the 32nd Nigerian Economic Summit in Abuja on Monday. Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, the president stated that Nigeria required a "difficult economic reset" to overcome years of underperformance.
Tinubu argued that tough decisions are necessary to achieve sustainable economic growth and improve the livelihoods of farmers, manufacturers, entrepreneurs, innovators, and young jobseekers. He emphasized that "there is no shortcut to economic growth," framing the current reforms as the primary means to transform the country's economic fortunes.
