Donald Trump Pardons Alaska Diesel Mechanics at Wasilla Rally

Donald Trump issued unconditional pardons to two Alaska diesel mechanics convicted of violating the Clean Air Act during a campaign rally in Wasilla.

President Donald Trump issued unconditional pardons to Zachary Czubak and Patrick Fleming, co-owners of the Anchorage-based repair shop Arm Rippin Toys, during a campaign rally in Wasilla, Alaska, on October 14, 2026. The two men had pleaded guilty in 2022 to conspiracy to violate the Clean Air Act after federal prosecutors found they removed or tampered with emissions-control equipment on at least 37 vehicles between 2019 and 2020, earning roughly $100,000 for the modifications.

Trump defended the mechanics, arguing that the prosecutions were unfair and that their work was necessary to keep trucks operational in the extreme cold of Alaska. During the event, he referenced a previous pardon granted to another local shop owner, Mackenzie Spurlock, and criticized the severity of the potential sentences for fixing engines.

In addition to the pardons, Trump announced that an 800-mile natural gas pipeline had secured all necessary federal permits. Patrick Fleming responded to the pardon by stating that the mechanics were not criminals and intended only to help vehicle owners in Alaska and across the world.
