Andy Burnham Defends Early Release Scheme Amid Prison Crisis

Prime Minister Andy Burnham is facing intense criticism over a controversial prisoner early release scheme implemented to prevent the UK prison system from reaching capacity and collapsing. In response to the crisis, Reform UK leader Nigel Farage proposed building Nightingale prisons to increase capacity and deporting all convicted foreign nationals to serve their sentences in countries such as El Salvador and Kosovo. The Labour government dismissed these proposals, stating that Reform UK lacks serious answers and that such measures would lead to the system's collapse.
