Tinubu Economic Reforms Drive Nigeria GDP to $375 Billion
President Bola Tinubu's economic reforms have increased Nigeria's GDP to $375 billion and surged stock market capitalization to over N150 trillion.
Economic reforms led by Bola Ahmed Tinubu have significantly increased Nigeria's GDP from below $300 billion to approximately $375 billion within two years. National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, reported that national exports have exceeded imports for the first time, signaling the emergence of a productive economy.
The Nigerian Exchange Group reported a surge in market capitalization from nearly N30 trillion in May 2023 to over N150 trillion. CEO Temi Popoola attributed this growth to the removal of fuel subsidies, foreign exchange reforms, and the 2025 Investment and Securities Act. Popoola estimated that these shifts have created between 500,000 and 900,000 new millionaires, with banks raising over N4 trillion primarily from domestic investors.
To reach the administration's goal of a $1 trillion economy, the Nigerian Exchange Group has urged the government to accelerate the privatization and listing of national assets, including Nigeria LNG and specific assets from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd. Securities and Exchange Commission Director-General Emomotimi Agama committed to maintaining an enabling environment for capital market participants to sustain this momentum.
