Narendra Modi Asserts Zero-Tolerance Policy Against Terrorism

Prime Minister Narendra Modi used the 178th episode of his monthly radio programme, Mann Ki Baat, on September 27, 2026, to declare that India now pursues a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism. He contrasted this current resolve with the aftermath of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks and the 2008 Delhi serial blasts, periods he claimed were marked by ignored demands for action against Pakistan.

Modi commemorated the 10th anniversary of the September 2016 surgical strikes conducted by the Indian Army against terrorist hideouts in PoJK, describing them as a decisive response to the Uri attack. He noted that these operations, alongside the Balakot airstrike and Operation Sindoor, shifted India from strategic restraint to proactive deterrence. Additionally, he marked the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, noting that Indians constituted the highest number of victims after Americans.

Beyond security, Modi highlighted national health and civic initiatives. He praised regional efforts to combat malnutrition during Nutrition Month, including campaigns in Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, and Mizoram, and noted that the Poshan Tracker has registered approximately nine crore beneficiaries. He also reported that the first phase of Census 2027 is nearly complete, with data recorded for over 32 crore families, and urged citizens to participate in cleanliness drives ahead of Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary.
