Trump Stargate Initiative Builds $15 Billion Wisconsin AI Campus

Donald Trump's Stargate partnership with OpenAI and Oracle is constructing a $15 billion AI data center in Port Washington, Wisconsin, sparking local land-rights disputes.

The Donald Trump administration is executing a $500 billion Stargate partnership with OpenAI and Oracle, featuring a $15 billion AI data center campus currently under construction in Port Washington, Wisconsin. To power the facility, the American Transmission Company has proposed high-voltage transmission line routes that may involve the use of eminent domain to seize private land, including a 52-acre property in Saukville.

These land-use proposals have triggered significant local opposition. The group Great Lakes Neighbors United has organized protests over property rights, and opponents launched a failed recall attempt against Port Washington Mayor Ted Neitzke. The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin is currently reviewing the transmission routing options to determine the final path for the lines.

To mitigate community concerns regarding utility costs, OpenAI, Oracle, and operator Vantage have pledged to fund their own energy infrastructure and utilize renewable sources. These companies stated they intend to pay for their own energy to ensure local electricity prices and grid reliability remain unaffected for ratepayers. Mayor Neitzke continues to support the project, citing the potential for thousands of jobs and a transformed tax base for the community.
